Almost Wordless Wednesday & Bead Table Wednesday (BTW)
I noticed a bunch of enameled beads during the Bead Soup Blog hop… and decided I needed some… Originally I was going to buy a bunch of finished beads… but then I thought… I have a torch I even have some enamels… & I’ve enameled before…I ordered a bunch of things from Barbara Lewis at Painting with Fire…. Mainly beads and super skinny mandrels… In the first order the mandrels were missed so I spent about half an hour a couple of weeks ago belt sanding a 2mm mandrel down to a 1 mm mandrel… so that I could play! You’re not seeing the 4 beads I made with that mandrel befor I burnt it… What you are seeing is what I made today with the mandrels that Barbara sent me and the free enamels she sent isn’t that green transparent enamel a gorgeous colour! And The beads are so light..

Enameling Mistakes Make Learning Experiences!
Have you had one of those days when you keep doing stupid things? My whole week has been one of those days or at least so far! You just don’t want a day like that when fire is involved… This happen yesterday!? First, I learned what happens when you decide to get a little string of enamel off a completed bead and get that bead too hot, too quick… Enamel can pop off! It almost crumbled before my eyes! ? Then , I thought, so much for that. I’ll try enameling a key… It melted! Something is wrong when it glows red and wiggles like a noodle!? LOL (I learned to test objects with caution.) ?Next , I started concentrating on enameling beads again… ? (Base Bead is a Filigree Bead.) This bead got a little burnt! A reminder to pay attention to what you’re doing… But, I did get one bead almost perfect yesterday… ?(Base bead with a few holes.) Actually, this was the first bead I made yesterday. I guess I got a little cocky… But I learned alot and no one got hurt!

Bead Soup…and something especially for you!
I included a couple of the turquoise coins and the jade, then added a few of my torch-fired enamel beads and some yummy Czech glass I had in my stash. Using the brass chain LeAnn sent and some bronze wire that I patinaed I wrapped the elements into a longish necklace with the lovely bronze clasp on the side. The one element I was least comfortable with was the beautiful silk cord…I cut small pieces and opened them up, then tied them in a couple places. I made earrings from the key charms… I had some extra materials and decided to create something else, just for you! A bracelet that I would like to giveaway to a lucky blog reader! Leave a comment, and I will enter you in a drawing to be held on Tuesday evening…say 8:00 pm…that will give everyone time to make it through all the bead soup party blogs, hopefully! No other hoops to jump through, just leave a comment!

Bead Table WednesdayIt’s all wrong!
Well, that’s how I felt yesterday, anyway. Trying to work on a few projects with nothing coming out how I wanted it to! Ah well
Today is another day, isn’t that how the saying goes? Anyway, here’s what was on my Bead Table today…the remnants of projects from yesterday
Steel wire, 20 g. My brand-spankin’ new Wubbers! Gotten from Fundametals and Jeannette Blix. Can you say *LOVE* about pliers? Yep! (And no, not for use on steel wire!) A lovely enameled bead from Sally Russick , sent with the earrings I won from her! Isn’t it a cool bead? The earrings themselves! Again, won from Sally One of the cool links I’d won from Melanie over at Earthenwood Studios Wrapped up as a connector link with some of the steel wire from above! This is my first time really working with steel wire in a project. I’ve made a few pair of kidney-shaped earwires out of steel as a prototype, but that’s it. It’s definitely a different animal from my lovely copper!
